The risk of diabetes is not confined to a single stage of life—it begins in pregnancy, extends across generations, and evolves from childhood into older age. This special session brings together three ongoing diabetes research programs conducted with the Korea National Institute of Health, KDCA, with future directions discussed alongside the Korean Diabetes Association. The first presentation examines how gestational diabetes shapes both maternal progression to type 2 diabetes and intergenerational risk, drawing on a prospective family cohort. The second presents the epidemiology of diabetes in Korean children and adolescents and a national registry supporting prevention and care research. The third addresses evidence-based strategies for optimal diabetes management in Korean older adults. Together, these initiatives show how connected national cohorts and registries can translate life-course evidence into prevention and precision care.
