Travel grant

International Travel Grant for ICDM 2026

To support international researchers participating in ICDM 2026, travel grants will be awarded to selected applicants who submit outstanding abstracts.
Recipients will be selected by the Scientific Program Committee based on the quality of submitted abstracts.
Travel grants are available only to applicants who meet all eligibility requirements and present their work in person in Seoul.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Overseas abstract presenters under the age of 45 (including Korean nationals residing abroad or affiliated with overseas institutions)
  • Applicants who applied for the Travel Grant at the time of abstract submission
  • Applicants who have completed registration with full payment
  • In-person presentation at ICDM 2026 is mandatory

* Please note that travel grant applications will not be accepted during the late-breaking period.

Funding

Travel grants will be provided in Korean Won (KRW) cash only (no other currencies or payment methods).

Asia & Oceania

KRW 500,000

Outside Asia & Oceania

KRW 700,000

Approximately 500 recipients will be selected.
The grant will be provided onsite at the congress venue.

Required Documents for Collection

Important Notice

  • Submission Period for Documents No. 4 and No. 5: August 24 (Mon) ~ September 17 (Thu), 2026
    • > On-site submission will NOT be accepted after the submission deadline.
    • > To receive the full travel grant amount under the Korea Tax Treaty, both required tax documents must be submitted in advance. If either document is not submitted, a 22% Korean withholding tax (20% income tax and 2% local income tax) will be applied in accordance with the revised Korean tax regulations effective January 1, 2026.
    • > Please note that the issuance period for a Tax Residency Certificate may vary by country and may take approximately 1 to 3 weeks.
    • > Detailed instructions for document submission will be provided to selected Travel Grant recipients.
    • > Estimated Travel Grant Amount After 22% Tax Withholding
      • Asia & Oceania: KRW 390,000 (Original amount: KRW 500,000)
      • Outside Asia & Oceania: KRW 546,000 (Original amount: KRW 700,000)
  • Submitted documents may be retained for tax compliance purposes.

4 Tax Exemption under the Korea Tax Treaty
  • Revised Korean tax regulations effective January 1, 2026.
  • Recipients wishing to receive the full travel grant amount under the Korea Tax Treaty are requested to submit both required tax documents.
  • If the required tax documents are not submitted, the travel grant will be paid after a 22% Korean withholding tax (20% income tax and 2% local income tax).
Tax Residency Certificate
  • Must be issued in 2026 by the national tax authority in the applicant’s current country of residence.
  • Must certify that the applicant is a tax resident of the current country of residence for the year 2026.
  • Examples of issuing authorities: IRS (United States), HMRC (United Kingdom)
Advance submission required

The original certificate must also be presented when collecting the travel grant. Advance PDF submission does not replace the original document.

5 Application Form for Tax Exemption
  • Complete only the yellow-highlighted fields (Items 1~6, 16, 17, and Signature) and submit the completed Word file. Download Application Form
  • Item 6 (Country Code): Enter the ISO country code of your current country of residence (not your nationality). Find Your ISO Country Code

Collection Policy

  • Travel grants must be collected in person by the presenting author after completing the oral or poster presentation.
  • Proxy or delegated collection is strictly prohibited under any circumstances.
  • Travel grants will only be distributed onsite during the congress period.
  • Bank transfer, remittance, or post-congress collection is not available.

Application Method

Applicants must select “Apply for Travel Grant” during abstract submission and provide the required information, including age, nationality, and passport copy.

Notification of Results

The Secretariat will notify applicants of the selection results by email after review by the Scientific Program Committee.
Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified. We kindly ask for your patience until the official notification is released.
